The idea of awards has always been and is, to recognise the talents, achievements and accomplishment of individuals, institutions, organisations and establishments doing wonderful things and breaking grounds in their respective disciplines and fields. While this is true for the many recipients of many awards over the years, a teeming number of individuals and organisations alike remain unrecognised and unrewarded despite their great and ground-breaking achievements.

MAI TAIMAKON AL’UMMA which is a Hausa phrase that translates as “Helper of the People/Community” was inspired by the fact that good-wills and charitable gestures are virtues that should be rewarded in individuals that against all odds are committed and dedicated to achieving a society void of all forms of sufferings, poverty and social vises. Her Dear Diary Initiative HDDI is fully aware of the challenges faced by selfless and sympathetic individuals who carry the weight of society on their shoulders and as such wishes to encourage them in our own little way.

The award night doubles as a girl child education awareness campaign that seeks to gather the requisite support and  sensitise the public on the dire situation of girl child education in the North. It is our belief that kindness and charitable gestures shown to anyone in the society directly or indirectly reaches out to the female folk because in every house hold resides a woman, a girl child and/or an adolescent girl.

Come and celebrate society’s heroes with us at what promises to be a memorable award night.
